Common questions
How do I save a recipe?
Tap Add and paste a link, paste the recipe text, or take a photo of a cookbook page. forkit pulls out the ingredients and steps, and you check them before it saves.
How do I share a grocery list with my family?
Everyone in a household shares one list. In Settings → Household, share the invite link. Once they join, changes show up on everyone’s phone within a second, even while one of you is at the store.
I cleared my list by mistake.
Open the list and tap Recently cleared at the bottom. Anything taken off in the last 24 hours can be put back.
What’s the pantry?
Things you always have, like salt or olive oil. Recipes won’t add them to your grocery list. Find it in Settings → Pantry, or tap Always have this on any list item.
What’s a fork?
Your own copy of someone else’s recipe that you can change. The original stays as it was, and the recipe page shows how the versions are related.
Who can see my recipes?
You choose for each recipe: Private (only you), Household (people in your household can see and edit it) or Public (anyone). You can also invite someone by @username to edit a recipe with you.
How do meal reminders work?
Put recipes on the Plan tab. If morning meal reminders are on (Settings → Notifications in the app, Settings → Cooking on the website), you get a push around 9am with the day’s meals, plus a heads-up when something needs to thaw or marinate.
How do I change my email or password, or sign out?
Your email is in Settings → Profile. Your password, signed-in devices and Sign out everywhere else are in Settings → Sign-in & security. Sign out is at the bottom of Settings.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Delete account. Your private recipes, photos, notes and list go. Public recipes stay up without your name, and household recipes pass to someone else in your household. See the privacy policy for details.
Does forkit cost anything?
